Noel studied various mediums of art at the Bolton College under Russel Young but has always worked with his self-taught dry pastels. Additionally, many of his picture frames are self-crafted and employ reclaimed wood whenever possible.
Noel's talent is to produce both powerful landscapes and wispy figures with this most difficult of mediums, in a style often compared to both water colours and oils. His inspirations include artists Turner and Constable, and he draws further inspiration from the intense scenery he encounters as an avid walker.
Noel was born in 1954 in Townley's Hospital, Bolton. He is a father to three sons Ian, Chris and Tom. He has a Jack Russell called Turner, who you will usually find accompanying Noel on his numerous walks around the Lancashire countryside.
